Ellery earned her BS in Social Work from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio and went on to obtain her Masters degree in Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She possesses over 11 years of clinical experience in various settings including previous roles as Mentorship Program Coordinator at Greene County Juvenile Detention Center and as Recovery Services Intern at London Correctional Institution. Ellery also spent two years as a School-Based Mental Health Therapist providing treatment to children and adolescents and most recently prior to joining CAATL in 2020 provided outpatient therapy at Thompson Child & Family Focus in individual, group and family settings to adolescents and adults. Ellery utilizes a variety of evidence based therapy models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psycho-Educational Therapy and also uses Mindfulness practices and techniques in her therapeutic repertoire.

Ellery offers therapeutic support to all ages while specializing in working with children age 10 and up, teens and young adults. When working with a child or teen, Ellery engages parents and the family system in the process to share tools so that they can best support their young person. She has significant expertise in childhood and adolescent behavioral and emotional issues of all kinds and is particularly skilled in helping children and teens dealing with anxiety, mood regulation, depression and stress. Ellery is also passionate about and quite skilled in working with young people and adults of all ages dealing with grief, loss and bereavement issues. She further provides highly effective and compassionate treatment to adults of all ages dealing with a myriad of issues including but not limited to depression, trauma (past or present), anxiety, family conflict and general life stressors or transitions. As a Queer identifying individual, she has a strong interest in supporting members of the LBGTQ+ population and in particular in their healing journeys.

Ellery brings mindfulness and body grounding activities into sessions to support clients in learning ways to assist their body systems to calm down when faced with difficult emotions or life experiences. She brings elements of play into session through hands on activities to connect clients to their own creativity and inner child. Ellery has experience working with clients navigating through sensory processing challenges and offers coping tools teaching grounding and inner calm in a noisy world. Whether navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, building confidence, or just trying to navigate being a human, Ellery always provides a supportive and safe space for her clients to feel both seen and heard.

Ellery believes that working collaboratively with her clients to help them devise a personalized treatment plan that reflects their needs and goals in conjunction with providing compassionate and clinically sound treatment is a formula for success in helping clients on their journeys towards long term change and personal growth. Ellery helps clients as they courageously face their difficulties and empowers them to move more confidently through their lives with a stronger sense of self and purpose. She provides a warm, safe and deeply caring environment for her clients and immediately puts clients at ease with her compassionate and laid back but playful nature. Ellery is an empathetic and open minded person with both a great sense of humor and a deep passion for her work as a therapist.

Ellery offers daytime appointments and works hard to accommodate her client’s busy lives and schedules. She accepts BCBS (except Blue Value or Blue Local), Cigna, Medicare, United, Tricare and Medcost (if not managed by CBHA), as well as self-pay and sliding scale fees for services. When not working, Ellery enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, rollerblading, being creative and being in nature’s beauty. She enjoys making pottery, is an avid reader and loves making new memories traveling whenever she can. Her pup, Raina, joins often in her many adventures and as an emotionally certified support animal, also sometimes joins her in session with clients who feel comfortable or desire Raina’s additional support.
